Meet our amazing November Girl Hero and our new Program Intern, Meg Neely! Meg is a senior at the University of Washington and joined our team through the Education, Communities, and Organization internship program in late September.
Meg has immediately jumped into action, helping us throughout our Fall Season and stepping in as a superstar coach at our Familyworks Heart & Sole team. In addition to providing valuable support for our Fall 2022 teams (including packing our 5K celebration bags!!), Meg is already helping in our preparations for our Spring 2023 season by assisting with the recruitment of new sites and expansion of our Junior Coach program.
Girls on the Run is so grateful to have Meg supporting our team. She plays a crucial role in providing new insight into how we can better our program through her direct experience volunteering in child education settings. Our staff has loved getting to know all the fun things about Meg - such as her hometown in Spokane and her love for matching athletic sets!
Recently, Meg had the opportunity to put together a Dia de Los Muertos celebration at practice with her team. The experience was so memorable to see all the participants excited and joyful to participate in the event.
When asked about her experience with GOTR, Meg says, “GOTR is something that I wish I had as a girl growing up to provide me with a healthy relationship with movement while learning tools to grow personally and with others. I am so thankful that I get to be apart of GOTR Puget Sound and live out their mission of building strong girls. Seeing the girls on my team build healthy relationships with themselves and others has to be one of the most fulfilling things I have ever been able to be a part of!”
Meg will graduate from the University of Washington this Spring with a degree in Education, Communities, and Organization and Communications. We are so excited to have Meg on board to support our team in so many ways this upcoming Winter and Spring!
