November's Girl Hero

Barbara poses in a hat in front of palm trees

Meet Barbara, our November Girl Hero! Barbara is a long-time supporter of Girls on the Run and has been involved with GOTR Puget Sound for over 15 years.

Barbara has been a Coach and Running Buddy, and even started the first GOTR team on the Eastside. Now that she is traveling more, Barabara loves to advocate for Girls on the Run and support however she is able to. Barbara still volunteers when she can, her son has even volunteered at the Regional 5K, and she can’t wait for her granddaughter to participate in GOTR when she is old enough.

When asked about a memorable experience from GOTR, Barbara shared: "One of my young runners was overheard saying, 'My Running Buddy is old, but she's fast!' I hope this sticks with her. Running can help you stay fit for decades.” Barbara also shared that she hopes this is the lesson girls take from the program. Thank you, Barbara, for your dedication and support!
