July's Girl Hero

Meet Heather Jones, our July Girl Hero! Coach Heather first learned about Girls on the Run after seeing booths at various marathon expos and from her running group where many were either past participants or current coaches. Since GOTR has been brought to her school, Heather has coached for three seasons and is a Girls on the Run champion in her community. Heather and her co-coach, Ace Ramsey, have focused on fun recruitment efforts to grow their school team over the last few years.

One of Heather's favorite GOTR memories when a student join the program during the Fall Season and Spring Season and started out as very shy and timid. By the end of the school year, she felt more confident sharing ideas with the group. Heather shared, "I love that GOTR gives me an opportunity to connect with my students outside of the academic environment." Thank you, Coach Heather!
