Meet our June Girl Hero, David Haughney! David is a Girls on the Run Puget Sound Board Member and overall GOTR champion! Since joining the board in 2023, David has been a member of the Finance Committee and will serve as Treasurer for this upcoming year! He first became involved with GOTR Puget Sound after being inspired by our mission to empower youth through running and mentorship. David is the uncle to three nieces and shared that he wants them to grow up in a world that encourages their confidence, strength, and joy.
 
"When I first moved to Seattle back in 2015, joining a running club became my way of building community and finding connection, and GOTRPS reflects that same spirit by creating a space where girls can build confidence and form meaningful relationships through movement," David said, "My time with GOTRPS has been so special and has absolutely flown by. My annual highlight is our spring 5K, seeing the sense of accomplishment on so many girls’ faces after the race; it’s a reminder of the incredible impact a supportive, empowering environment can have, and I feel lucky to be a small part of it!"
