Meet our August Girl Hero, Queenie Lee! Queenie is a longtime GOTR volunteer and a new member of the Girls on the Run Puget Sound Board of Directors. She first began volunteering with Girls on the Run in New York City thirteen years ago as a SoleMate and a Running Buddy at GOTR 5Ks. Queenie wanted to give back to her community doing what she loves and to help girls overcome doubts on whether they could complete their 5K. Queenie started running in middle school. She shared that "the determination and discipline I've developed over the years is largely attributed to the lessons I learned on the run." Over the last thirteen years, Queenie has been a GOTR supporter wherever she has lived. Beginning in New York City, then Chicago, Boston, and now Seattle, Queenie believes that being a coach is her favorite way of being involved with GOTR since she can witness the impact the program has on participants' confidence and ability to navigate challenges. Thank you, Queenie, for continuing to support youth in our community!
We inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running. Non-profit girl empowerment after-school program for girls.
