Meet Ashley Davies, our June Girl Hero! Ashley is a long-time Girls on the Run volunteer and champion! Her first experience with GOTR was in 2012 in New York City as a Running Buddy. Ashley shared, "The energy of that day was indescribable, you truly had to be there. Watching the girls cross the finish line with so much confidence, joy, and pride was incredibly powerful. I knew right then that I wanted to be more involved." Since then, Ashley has volunteered with Girls on the Run Puget Sound for countless seasons and has been on the Board of Directors for the last six years.
This spring, GOTR Puget Sound also had the privilege of having Ashley as the 5K emcee. Ashley shared that this was one of her GOTR highlights, "I had a front-row seat to all the magic of the day and got to cheer on everyone as they celebrated everything they had accomplished." Another favorite memory of hers is when she coached a team at the shelter in Brooklyn. "Seeing the girls' families come out and cheer them on at the 5K was such a special moment. The pride on the girls' faces and the excitement from their families is something I'll never forget," Ashley said, "I love that Girls on the Run uses running as a vehicle to teach girls important life skills like confidence, teamwork, and resilience. Every girl needs Girls on the Run!"
Thank you, Ashley! 🩷💚
